Nacida a finales de 2004 como €œentidad internacional certificadora de software libre€?, se ha presentado en nuestro país Free SC (Software Certification). Una compañía que, según David Aycart, su director general, pretende €œno solo certificar conocimientos en las distintas áreas del software libre, sino además estandarizar y desarrollar los materiales necesarios para la correcta asimilación de este software por parte de empresas e instituciones€? y todo €œdesde la neutralidad e independencia de cualquier fabricante€?.
Según el directivo, por el momento existen a escala mundial dos empresas de este tipo, pero en EEUU, mientras que las que existen en nuestro país están ligadas a uno u otro desarrollador de software concreto.
Aycart comenta que la gestión de la distribución de las seis modalidades de certificado de Free SC (dos ellos para GNU/Linux; dos más para los servicios de Internet y seguridad €“los cuatro de alto perfil técnico- y otros dos más generalistas, uno para ofimática libre con Openoffice y otro para consultor en software libre) se hará a través de un convenio con Universidad/Empresa, y que ya han firmado acuerdos con al menos 50 centros, al tiempo que han iniciado proyectos con la Comunidad de Madrid, la Generalitat catalana, el Instituto de Tecnología de Aragón o el Inaem (Instituto Aragonés de Empleo).
Como datos de interés, el directivo comenta que hoy más del 50 por ciento de las comunidades autónomas están desarrollando proyectos de software libre y que sólo el 20 por ciento de ellos tiene más de un año de antigüedad, por cuanto ve un enorme potencial para su empresa.
